How to Dissolve Ground Cinnamon in Milk?
First, keep in mind that you can’t fully dissolve ground cinnamon in milk. For better results, use a cinnamon stick instead and strain the drink.
Why is that? Ground cinnamon comes from the finely ground inner bark of the cinnamon tree. There are two main types: cassia and Ceylon cinnamon. Ceylon cinnamon has a delicate taste but costs more. In comparison, cassia has a stronger flavor and is cheaper.
Ground cinnamon is a fine powder that doesn’t dissolve in liquids. That’s why it’s tricky to make a milk and cinnamon drink. Try to add ground cinnamon to warm milk, but some residue will always remain.
So, what’s the best way to add cinnamon in milk so it dissolves well? Here are a few options:
- Sprinkle it on frothed milk for a cappuccino or latte. Cinnamon dissolves better in thick liquids.
- Mix it with honey, maple syrup, or condensed milk (or dulce de leche). Stir it well, then add hot milk.
You can try these methods to make a cinnamon milk drink. They work well, but cinnamon powder still doesn’t dissolve completely. However, it’s still better than mixing a spoonful of cinnamon with cold milk. Or better yet, check out the method below for smooth, infused cinnamon milk with no residue or clumps.
The Best Method to Smoothly Mix Cinnamon and Milk
So, how do you mix cinnamon and milk?
Here’s the best way to make hot cinnamon milk without any clumps. You’ll need milk and cinnamon sticks. First, heat both ingredients in a pan, then let them soak to infuse all that delicious flavor. Check out our step-by-step recipe for the cinnamon drink below!
You can use any milk you like—regular or plant-based, like almond milk, coconut milk, or oat milk. We love oat milk because it brings out cinnamon’s aroma beautifully. Make a delicious cinnamon cappuccino with cinnamon oat milk—so much flavor!
How to Make Cinnamon Milk: A Step-by-Step Recipe
Let’s start with the ingredients you need:
- Milk: You can use regular milk or plant-based milk. If you choose plant-based milk, go for barista-style—it has a creamy texture. We tried barista oat milk, and the cinnamon dissolves perfectly in it. Or better yet, it infuses perfectly. Of course, some bits may remain, but we’re straining them!
- Cinnamon Stick: Use a cinnamon stick instead of cinnamon powder. We tried using cinnamon powder, but it always leaves tiny grounds behind. A cinnamon stick gives you all the flavor without the bits. Even if some pieces remain, they’re larger and easy to strain—unlike the fine residue from ground cinnamon.
So, how do you make cinnamon-infused milk?
Let’s dive into the recipe!
- Add a cinnamon stick to milk and heat it over high until it starts to boil. Then, lower the heat and let it simmer with the lid on for about 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
- Let it sit with the lid on for 5 minutes to soak up that cinnamon flavor.
- Remove the cinnamon stick. Sometimes it can fall apart.
- Strain the milk through a sieve.
- Pour the milk into a container and store it in the fridge.
You can froth milk and pour it into your coffee or simply add it as is.
By the way, you can use it as a base for another drink—golden milk! Just add some coconut oil, turmeric, ginger, and black pepper. Do you know a more delicious way to boost immunity and fight aging? We don’t think so! 🙂
You can also use warm cinnamon milk to make fairy milk for your toddler. Froth it and add colorful toppings. Kids love it! Cinnamon-infused milk works great in any drink with milk—like hot chocolate, golden milk, or pumpkin spice latte. You name it!
Storage Tips
So how do you store cinnamon-infused milk?
Prep it and strain it through a sieve. Pour it into a bottle or container. You can use a funnel and strainer at the same time to save some time! Close it tightly and store it in the fridge for up to 5 days.
Milk with Honey and Cinnamon
Are you in the mood for a hot milk drink with honey? Try making it with cinnamon-infused milk! The milk and honey recipe is easy, but there are a few things to remember.
Important tip: Don’t add honey to the pot while heating the milk. Why? Because honey shouldn’t be heated above 60°C or 140°F. If you do, it loses its nutrients and changes the taste.
So, what’s the best way to mix milk, honey, and cinnamon? First, prepare your cinnamon-infused milk. Let it cool slightly if it’s hot. Or warm it up if you store it in the fridge. Now, add honey to taste.
A cup of warm milk with honey is a great way to relax after a long day. It’s a perfect bedtime milk! Try warm milk and cinnamon for sleep and relaxation! Plus, use warm milk drinks to soothe a sore throat. So, prep your warm milk and honey drink, enjoy it, and wake up feeling better the next day.
You can skip honey milk if you don’t like honey or have an allergy. Use white or brown sugar instead. Opt for delicious cinnamon sugar milk. Prep the cinnamon with milk beforehand, and add some sugar before drinking.
Cinnamon Milk vs. Sprinkling Ground Cinnamon into Milk: Which Is Better?
You’ll notice a big difference when using infused milk instead of just sprinkling ground cinnamon. Here’s why:
- You can easily control the cinnamon concentration. So you’ll know exactly how much cinnamon to add next time based on your taste.
- There’s no powdery cinnamon residue.
- It froths easily for milk or coffee drinks.
- It’s great for making cocoa, hot chocolate, and other hot or cold drinks.
- It works as a base for classic rice pudding.
