How to Add Cinnamon to Coffee at Home: 4 Easy Ways
Cinnamon doesn’t dissolve in coffee because it’s ground tree bark and has small particles. Do you find it unpleasant when those particles stick to your tongue? Let’s find a way to add cinnamon to coffee so it dissolves and tastes delicious!
Here are four simple ways to add cinnamon to coffee. You can pick your favorite method. Add it to your favorite hot drinks. Ready? Let’s get started!
Method 1: Turkish Coffee with Cinnamon
First up, you can use a Turkish coffee pot, also known as a cezve. This is an easy recipe, but pay attention—there are a few tricks! For exact measurements — how much cinnamon, coffee, and water you need for this cinnamon coffee recipe — jump straight to the recipe card.
- Grab your cezve and mix ground coffee and cinnamon powder in the pot. Add sugar (we like brown sugar) for a sweet flavor. Sugar is optional, but it’s a perfect way to add caramel flavor to your coffee! No need to heat it yet.
- Now, set it on low heat and stir. Look for that sweet caramel smell—that’s when you know it’s ready for the next step.
- Once you smell it, add water carefully. Don’t rush—you don’t want to burn yourself.
- Turn the heat up to medium. When you see the foam rise, take the pot off the heat right away! Put it back on, let the foam rise again, and then remove it again. Look, the foam is rising—this is when the coffee’s at its best!
You’re done! Just let the coffee rise, but make sure it doesn’t boil!

Important tip: If you want to settle the coffee grounds, add a tablespoon of cold water. If you don’t like grounds at all, strain the coffee through a sieve. Enjoy it black, or add milk or cream for extra flavor to satisfy your taste buds. You can also add cinnamon syrup or maple syrup for extra sweetness. But that’s not necessary. The addition of cinnamon and brown sugar already brings so much flavor!
Method 2: Moka Pot Coffee with Cinnamon
Next, make a rich, cinnamon-infused black coffee in a Moka pot. It’s a popular choice and an Italian classic. We love it!
Want exact measurements for cinnamon, coffee, and water? Jump to the recipe card.
- First, mix ground coffee and a teaspoon of ground cinnamon together.
- Fill the bottom chamber of your Moka pot with water. But don’t go over the safety valve.
- Put your coffee and cinnamon mix in the filter. Screw the pot together and place it on medium heat.
Listen closely! As the coffee brews, you’ll start smelling the cinnamon. Once it’s ready, pour it into your favorite coffee cup. You’ll notice no coffee grounds, just a smooth, rich flavor. Feel free to add milk or cream if that’s your style, or sprinkle of cinnamon on top.

Method 3: French Press Cinnamon Coffee
Let’s move on to a French press, one of the easiest ways to brew hot coffee at home. And you can perfectly add cinnamon to coffee in your French press.
Need exact amounts of cinnamon, coffee, and water for this cinnamon coffee recipe? Just scroll down to the recipe card.
- First, rinse your French press with hot water.
- Mix the ground coffee and cinnamon. Then, add them to the French press.
- Now, boil some water, but don’t use it right away. Let it sit for 3 minutes. You want it to be about 95°C or 203°F.
- Pour the hot water into the French press. Stir it with a spoon. Place the lid on top without pressing the plunger just yet. Let it sit for 4-5 minutes.
- Now, slowly push the plunger down. Look, the coffee is ready!
- Pour it into your mug and enjoy.

Cinnamon Secrets: What It Is, TikTok Trend & More Coffee Recipes
Cinnamon is more than just a spice for baking — it adds flavor, works in tons of recipes, and even shows up in a viral TikTok trend people say brings good luck. Let’s check it out.
What Is Cinnamon?
Cinnamon is a warm spice with a slightly sweet flavor that you surely love. But do you know what it’s made of? Imagine, it comes from the inner bark of trees—specifically, the cinnamon tree!
There are different types of cinnamon, but two are the most common: cassia and Ceylon. Cassia cinnamon comes from China. It’s cheaper than Ceylon but also of lower quality. Ceylon cinnamon is considered the true cinnamon. It’s less sharp, doesn’t leave a bitter aftertaste, and has a more refined aroma than cassia. Ceylon cinnamon grows in Sri Lanka, India, and Burma. So, if you have a choice, go for the Ceylon type!
How Much Cinnamon Is Safe?
Like any spice, you shouldn’t overdo it. To stay safe and avoid any negative side effects, keep your intake to about ½ teaspoon daily. That way, you can enjoy its benefits without any risks!
