These easy roasted Brussels sprouts are perfectly seasoned. They are sweet, salty, mild, and just slightly spicy. This is such an easy recipe; you need one pan! This easy recipe is our favorite. It is easy to make. The ingredients are simple, and we always have them at home. A real umami booster is soy sauce. It doesn’t only add saltiness but a rich taste. That enhances the flavor of Brussels sprouts and all the ingredients we cook them with.
Prepare Brussels sprouts first: remove loose or damaged outer leaves, trim the stem, and cut them in half. If the heads are small, you can leave them whole.
Rinse Brussels sprouts with running water. Prepare all ingredients. The cooking time is short, and we recommend preparing all ingredients before you cook.
Heat a pan and pour in sesame oil. Use the above-average cooking mode. We use 7 out of 9 on our stove. Keep this cooking mode all the time.
Add Brussels sprouts and boiling water. Mix. Simmer under the lid until the water is gone. This process takes around 8 minutes; stir several times.
Then, fry the sprouts for 4 minutes. This way, they get nicely roasted. Stir constantly.
Add brown sugar. You can replace it with regular sugar if you want. Fry for around 2 minutes. The sugar will add a little bit of sweetness. Stir constantly.
Add spices. We are adding chili pepper and dry garlic. You can substitute dry garlic with one clove of freshly grated garlic. Stir quickly to release the flavor.
Add soy sauce and rice vinegar. This will make Brussels sprouts slightly salty, mild, and sweet. Simmer for a few minutes until the liquid is gone. In our case, this took 4 minutes.
Transfer into a bowl and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
