Why this recipe is great

Chocolate-coated apple slices combine so many flavors! They’re juicy, chocolaty, crunchy, and have a hint of salted caramelโ€”delicious.

The base is just two ingredientsโ€”apple and chocolate. Then, you choose your favorite topping to sprinkle on top!

How to Make Chocolate-Coated Apple Slices?

You only need two essential ingredients for chocolate-coated apple slices: apples and chocolate. Choose juicy apples for this recipe; they work best. You can easily customize them to your tasteโ€”just pick the toppings you like best!

Ingredients:

  • Apples
  • Chocolate

Topping ideas:

  • Crushed Oreos
  • Pretzels
  • Dried fruit
  • Caramel
Ingredients for chocolate-coated apple slices: apples, chocolate, almond butter, coconut oil, almond flakes, Oreos, pretzels, and maple syrup.

The additional toppings are optional and entirely up to you. Choose your favorite topping to sprinkle on top for extra flavor.
You need around 10 minutes to prepare chocolate-coated apple slices. First, core the apples. You can remove the core from apples with a special coring knife. But a thin, sharp knife works just as well if you don’t have one. You donโ€™t need to peel the skin.

Slice apples into rings. Our rings are 8-10mm thick or 1/3 to 2/5 inch. Next, melt the chocolate. We prefer dark chocolate because it melts so well and is fluid, perfect for coating. In comparison, milk chocolate contains a lot of sugar and, even when melted, is pretty thick. Coating apple slices with milk chocolate can be difficult.

Dip each apple slice into melted chocolate. Cover a cutting board with parchment paper and place the freshly coated apple slices on it. Here’s our tip: choose a cutting board that fits your freezer. Store the apple slices in the freezer. This way, they stay delicious and last longer.

Now comes the best part – the toppings! This is where you can get creative with the recipe and tailor the apple slices to your taste. Choose your favorite topping and sprinkle it on top! Do you love the combination of salty and sweet? Go for the salted caramel topping. We love making salted caramel without caramelizing sugar because it takes too long. We simply mix melted coconut oil, almond butter, and maple syrup. And, of course, a pinch of salt on top for a salty note. That’s it! Let’s sprinkle the salted caramel on top!

Do you love crunchy toppings? The mini pretzels are the best choice. We particularly enjoy using extra-small pretzels that fit perfectly on apple slices. If the pretzels are too big, simply break them into pieces; they taste just as delicious. Plus, you don’t have to worry about finding extra-small pretzels.

Do you love Oreos? Then, cut them into pieces and sprinkle them on top. The creamy, sweet Oreos pair perfectly with the chocolate coating. And the fresh, fruity taste of the apple slices. So delicious!

You can choose toppings you love, such as sea salt, nuts, dried fruit, or sprinkles. There are so many options! Are chocolate-coated apple slices with your favorite topping ready? Put them in the freezer. In 2 hours, they are ready to enjoy.

Keep the apple slices in the freezer and defrost for 15 minutes before eating.

Salted Caramel Topping

For hassle-free salted caramel, prepare it with almond butter and maple syrup. Mix melted coconut oil with almond butter and maple syrup. And don’t forget to add a pinch of salt! It’s essential!

You’ll love the combination of crisp, juicy apples, crunchy chocolate, and creamy salted caramel. Sprinkle crunchy nuts on top, and your favorite dessert is ready!

How to Keep Chocolate-Coated Apple Slices from Browning?

Store them in the freezer instead of the fridge to prevent covered apple slices from browning. Store them in a tightly closed container to maintain freshness. If you store them in the fridge, the apples release juice. And lose crispness and juiciness.

Take the apple slices from the freezer and let them defrost for 15 minutes before eating.

How Long Do Apple Slices Last?

Chocolate-covered apple slices can last up to 1 month, but only if you keep them in the freezer. Once they’re frozen, place them in a tightly closed container. Thaw them at room temperature for around 10-15 minutes before serving.

White Chocolate-Covered Apple Slices

You can cover apple slices with dark or white chocolateโ€”both are extra delicious!

Remember that you’ll need more white chocolate than dark chocolate to cover the apple slices. Increase the amount of white chocolate by 1.5 times compared to dark chocolate. White chocolate contains 50% sugar, which makes it thicker once melted. Unlike dark chocolate.

Apple Slices on a Stick

We core the apples, cut them into rings, and dip them in melted chocolate. You can also skewer the rings with wooden sticks before dipping them into chocolate. This way, you can perfectly hold and coat the apple slices in chocolate.
